Wow! I can't believe they can do that. We own these cars and these pictures. How can they tell us that we can't make calendars of our OWN cars.
We didn't use Ford or any logos or badges related to Ford. That is just retarded. Lisa, I hope that your lawyers are hearing about this one.

Ford corporation people must be idiots. We love our cars, we are 9000 strong and growing because of things like this. Then Ford swoops down from the clouds and says we can't do that.

I wonder if we took the running ponys and logos off the cars in the pictures. I see a lot of insurance commercials that do that.

This is so stupid.

Temporarily Ends Rant....

this is the part i REALLY don't understand. There's about seventeen thousand dollars that says that Bullitt belongs to ME, NOT Ford. :chair:

PS - These Ford guys are worse than the General Jackson Showboat folks at Nashville with their "That's Copyrighted!" BS...

Yeah the calendar consists of our privately owned pics of our privately owned vehicles so I don't understand what Ford's problem is either. If copyrighted pics or other materials that was owned by Ford was used without permission then I understand but nothing was used that belongs to Ford.

TurboMustangs.com changed its name to TurboForums.com cause Ford was given them heat.

If Ford's "intellectual property" definition could apply to this calender, then every photo of any Mustang in the various publications like MM & FF, 5.0 (and others) is a violation as well. These photos are of club members cards and the calender is being sold to those same members. Doesn't make sense to me. Looks like Ford thinks there cars are the gift that keeps on giving if you have ask their permission to photograph it and publish it for your own consumption after you paid them thousands to buy it.

Default BMC 2008 Calendar NOT Available Due to Ford Motor Company

I got some more info from the folks at cafepress and according to them, a law firm representing Ford contacted them saying that our calendar pics (and our club's event logos - anything with one of our cars in it) infringes on Ford's trademarks which include the use of images of THEIR vehicles. Also, Ford claims that all the images, logos and designs OUR graphics team made for the BMC events using Danni are theirs as well. Funny, I thought Danni's title had my name on it ... and I thought you guys owned your cars ... and, well ... I'm not even going to get into how wrong and unfair I feel this whole thing is as I'd be typing for hours, but I wholeheartedly echo everything you guys have been saying all afternoon. I'm not letting this go un-addressed and I'll keep you guys posted as I get to work on this.

I'm sorry, but at this point we will not be producing the 2008 BMC Calendar, featuring our 2007 Members of the Month, solely due to Ford Motor Company's claim that THEY own all rights to the photos YOU take of YOUR car. I hope to resolve this soon, and be able to provide the calendar and other BMC merchandise that you guys want and deserve! This thread will remain open for you to comment however you wish, and I'll update it as needed.

Thanks for all your support of the BMC!!

This is quite possibly the most absurd thing I've ever heard. the NOTION that after paying THOUSANDS of dollars, I'm not authorized to create artwork using pictures of what's rightfully mine just blows my mind!
Ford has another think coming if they think they're just going to go around squashing all the 'little men', who do nothing but SUPPORT them...

I don't know about you guys, but when I bought the Bullitt, I didn't see anything in the contract that said Ford would maintain "intellectual rights" to any pictures I might eventually take of the vehicle. BUMP that!

*utterly speechless*

Just simply amazing. I would think they'd be flattered that we were so happy to be showing off our cars and getting them some publicity in the process.

Wow I cannot believe what I am reading. I thought we were making the payments and that when I take a picture of MY mustang I own the rights to the picture not them and if I want to publish a picture of my car it is mine. This is just crazy.
